Considering the time it took to conceptualize it and turn it into reality, several more months of waiting is not bad. As per ICANN rules, trademark and brand owners get to have the first shot at the new domain name. This process can take several months but then again, it’s worth the wait. Once ICANN finishes with all the trademark and brand name registration, anyone can get their .NYC domain name. To do this, all New Yorkers have to do is apply for a domain name via a domain name registrar like Register.com. That’s how simple it is.
